Shirt Policy
LOCO races normally provide great T-shirts, many times they are technical "wicking" shirts in our longer races and nice cotton T-shirts in our smaller 5K races. Many of our races have upwards of nine sizes - Four women's sizes, Small, Medium, Large and XL, Five Men's sizes: Small, Medium, Large, XL and XXL. To get the exact number of shirts for all sizes is a complex challenge.
Our goal is to provide everyone with a race shirt that fits them to a "T". Everyone that officially registers and picks up their bib number in a LOCO race is normally allocated a race T-shirt. (NOTE, sometimes we limit the number of T-shirts and this is specifically noted on the web site)
Shirt Policy: When you pick up your T-shirt, you should first take the one you specified. Try it on, if you need to go up or down a size, go ahead and exchange it. We want you to get the right size. Normally, if you arrive 50 minutes or more before a race, there are enough shirts for you to swap. Your best bet if you really want to get the shirt that fits you best is to get there early.
Sizing: Listing a shirt size does not guaranty you will get that size, sorry. When you register, you are asked to provide your shirt size. We use this information to determine how many shirts we will need for each size. However, in just about every race we have to order shirts well in advance of the actual race. That means we have to estimate how many sizes we will need race day.
Why not just provide the exact number of sizes people put on their registration?
That's a very good question.
First, We have to estimate the number of each size up to a month or more before our races for technical shirts. That is how much time it takes to get those really great shirts and have them screened.
Second: Greater than 25% of people switch shirts to a better fitting one. So if we simply distributed the exact one you ordered - 25% of the time you would have the wrong size shirt. We find that by allowing swapping, normally 95% of runners and walkers get the best fit, and that is our goal.
(plus we like to reward those that show up early at our races.. it makes life so much easier to organize a race if you are early.)
